Adoption Announcements
Before the child arrives at your home, it’s a great time to take photos that can be used as adoption announcements. Friends and family love receiving these in the mail or through email or social media. These announcements can be funny, sweet, or serious, or anything in between.
1. Waiting For You
One wonderful idea for an adoption announcement is to take a photograph of the parents standing together, holding a “Waiting for You” sign. The sign can also be placed on a child-sized chair to show the adoptee that his or her parents anxiously awaited their arrival. Another cute idea is to show the children already in the home standing in a row. Add a pair of little shoes to show where the new child will be in a few short months.
2. Ultrasound Pictures
Ultrasound pictures can also be featured in the family is adopting a newborn child. It is especially sweet to have these held by both parents and any siblings. Hold a sign with your last name and the date you are expecting to add their new child to the family. Tana Ava Taylor adoption also recommends framing the adoption photo and placing it in the child’s crib, bed, or bassinet.
3. Basket of Paperwork
A fun and quirky way to announce the adoption would be to take a picture of a basket full of paperwork. Many adoptive parents feel the strain of the amount of paperwork required to adopt a child, and they joke about the paperwork being their baby at the beginning. Put the paperwork in a cute basket with a baby blanket and add a sign commemorating your adoption.
Capturing the First Moments
If you can, bring a professional photographer with you when you first meet your new child. This will save both parents from missing out on the magical moment when a new family is born. If you can’t bring a professional photographer, try getting some of these shots to highlight the joy of your first moments with the new child.
4. First Time in Your Arms
If you can, capture the look on each parent’s face as their new child is given to them for the first time. Keep in mind that the child may be upset or confused. It’s important to remember that not every emotion concerned with adopting is positive at the moment. Be patient with the baby or child, and remember that he or she is going through a huge upheaval in their lives.
These four wonderful ideas will help your new family bond before and after the adoption process. Take the time to enjoy all of these moments, and keep in mind that your new son or daughter will look back on these photos in years to come.
